The Art of Harmony

The Harmony Museum, in partnership with Harmony’s Bottlebrush Gallery, is sponsoring an art exhibit, The Art of Harmony, in the Museum’s Stewart Hall, 218 Mercer Street.  This free exhibit opens Saturday, September 16, at 10 a.m. and then runs Tuesdays through Saturdays through September 30; weekday hours are 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. There is no admission to view the more than 50 pieces of art, many of which are available for sale.

“The historic borough of Harmony attracts artists from all over,” say Gwen Lutz, Harmony Museum vice president. “Some come to live in historic buildings, others come to draw, paint, or photograph those buildings. This exhibit will showcase the work of all these artists.”  Also part of the exhibit will be artwork from the Harmony Museum collection.  “The museum has been gifted numerous pieces of art over the years,” says Katina Koontz,  administrator at the Harmony Museum, “everything from old maps of Harmony to paintings of people and buildings long gone. This is the first time all these unique pieces will be together on public display. The museum-owned artwork is not for sale.”

The exhibit is the brainchild of M.J. McCurdy, owner of the Bottlebrush Gallery and Jo Annette Cynkar who manages the Harmony Museum Shop. The two have worked together on many other Harmony events, including Harmony’s annual Christmas Market which happens this year on November 11 and 12.

Harmony is at I-79 exits 87-88, about 30 miles north of Pittsburgh. The Harmony Museum, 218 Mercer Street, sponsors many events and exhibits, and presents the community’s extraordinary

history with guided Museum tours at 1 and 2:30 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.
